Zach-isms

While Zach was coming up the stairs he was talking to himself :)

Zach:  I can carry loads of things ... thinking ... except Big Monsters. Maybe when I'm a super hero I'll carry big monsters. 

This conversation was after a night where he came in with a bad dream where Ethan was drinking a sippy made up of lizards (not elephants aparently) but lizards.

Funny and cute and not so funny!

  So Zach has been doing this thing lately that's not quite lying, but not quite telling the truth either.  He will walk into a room and if you look at him he will tell you what he's not going to tell you:) 
ex.  "Mommy, I'm not going to tell you I drank out of the hose ... I'm not going to tell you that"
ex. #2 
Spencer wondered where the soda he just opened went so I went to see which one of my boys had snagged it and when I walked into my room Zach says.  "Mommy I'm not going to tell you where daddy's soda is ...." It was obviously being hid behind his back.  sigh

so today Mason wanted to know everything about how baby's eat while they're in my stomach.  We got into discussions of why everyone has a belly button and I showed him videos about how it all works.  He was very interested, but in the end just started giggling about the baby not wearing any underwear in my belly. :)  love this kid

Ethan informed Mason the other day that only babies call their Mommy "Ma ma".  He then proceeded to tell him that big kids call their Mommy "mommy"!!  LOVE IT!!!

Where's the baby!!

  Well, I can honestly say I thought I would go into labor today and now ... I think I'm in it for the duration.  I went to the dr.'s today hoping that all of the pressure and contraction pain I'd been having would have significantly dilated and effaced me, but it was not to be.  Then I was hoping that the dr. would strip my membranes and this would give me contractions ... he said he did .. no contractions.  Then I was hoping that I wouldn't have another 9 lb baby this pregnancy and was told that this baby looked to be 8lbs already.  I'm a little down.  It would have been fun to go into labor on my own for this last baby, but it looks like I'll just be induced on Monday.
** I'm trying to look at the big picture and be happy that my baby will have a little more cooking time, but will be here on the 14th  **

4th of July

  We had such an amazing and fun 4th of July, even though we had to scale it back a little.  We decided this year that Korie would not be up to doing both the parade and the fireworks so we opted to cut back and just do the firework show in Kaysville with the Staten family.
  The day started off really early with Spencer running his first 5k with his sister (Becky) in Centerville at 7:00 in the morning.  He did really well with a finish time of 32 minutes.  All of us were really proud of him.  We then had a relaxing day with the kids, going to Red Robin for lunch and then over to save places for the firework show. 
  The fireworks were so much fun this year.  Spencer splurged and bought all the kids the glow in the dark light sabers, and while we waited at the park we were treated to a preshow of martial art light sabering techniques.
  During the fireworks Zach decided that he didn't want to watch the fireworks at all, but really just wanted to dance in the dark to the music.  His dance moves might need a little work, (Spencer got a little ribbing about him teaching Zach everything he knew about dancing), but it was fun and hilarious to watch him enjoy the music.  (The man in front of us, that he kept falling into, might not have shared this opinion)

I told Ethan that he couldn't hug me because I was just too hot and couldn't have his body heat add to my heat.  The next thing I knew he was handing me a home made fan that he had quickly made so I could cool myself off.  (What a sweetheart!)

Zach turns 4

Zach,
  You are still my baby even if you think you're BIG!!  I love the confidence you have and have always had.  You are not one of those kids that sits out of anything feeling left out, you always manage to create a place for yourself.  On your birthday we told you it was your birthday and you said "Now I'm as old as Ethan"  (Ethan had just had his birthday)  You are so fun and fun loving.  You have been quite the precocious child this year, but it's been very entertaining to hear your thoughts even if it's been a little embarrassing at times. You are almost always cheeful and rarely show any type of temper.   The only time we see you grumpy is when we're trying to keep you awake and not allowing you to take a late afternoon nap.  (If you take any kind of nap you are up until all hours of the night)  The other day you were swimming in our front yard and then went and played in the neighbors dirt.  I was not happy, but when I called you out on it and told you that you had probably ruined your new swimsuit you informed me quite innocently that "accidents happen"  lol!  It's hard if not impossible to stay mad at you for long because you are just too cute.  I hate that you are growing up, but it has been an amazing and wonderful thing to be a part of it.  You are simply "delightful" and we love you!!

Ethan turns 9

Ethan,
I cannot believe  you turned 9 this year.  It seems like just yesterday we were struggling as new parents trying to figure everything out.  You have turned into such an amazing boy!!  You are so kind and caring towards everyone.  If I had to describe you with one word it would be "intuitive".  You just seem to know what other people need and what they are feeling.  This last winter you told me that at school they had the kindergartners (Mason) play on the big toy because theirs had iced over and that you were so worried that Mason would be run over by all the
big kids you didn't leave his side.  That is the kind of special kid you are.  You still love getting snuggled and tickled and love giving and getting hugs.  You are really into pretend play right now: Star Wars and Light Sabers, mostly because you've been playing the Lego starwars game on the wii.  You, Mason and Zach are actually pretty great at play fighting with your light sabers. :)  You are extremely excited for your new baby brother and have been having a fun time feeling him move.  I wish I could freeze you at this age forever!!  You are amazing and I can't wait to see the person you become.

My Dad is 40 years old. His favorite food is Steak.  My Dad is so strong that he could lift all 3 kids. When my Dad wants to relax he likes to (He kind of likes reading). My Dad is the BEST at being a scientist of computers. I love my Dad because he loves me.

Ethan:
My Dad is 38 years old. His favorite food is brosle sprouts.  My Dad is so strong that he could lift 78 lbs. When my Dad wants to relax he likes to sleep. My Dad is the BEST at making computers. I love my Dad because he is rilly nice and good at computers.  (spelled how Ethan wrote it)

Zach was so funny, immediately after filling his gift out, he had to find Spencer to give it to him, but Spencer was in the bishops office renewing his temple recommend.  So after someone caught him wandering the halls and brought him to me I walked him down to the bishops office and we waited for Spencer.  Our kids are awesome!!

Idaho Falls

My 3 little Bears

 Bear World up in Idaho Falls was a really great surprise.  There was just enough stuff that you felt like you got a full experience, but not enough to make it overwhelming.  The first thing we did was drive through the bear part of the exhibit.  It was fun seeing such large animals up close and personal, I only wish we would have had a safari car with cages for windows so we could have been even closer.  Then we walked through their gift shop where my mom and I bough fudge:)  Outside there were small amusement rides (perfect for Mason and Zach who are afraid of everything lately.)  My favorite part of the whole experience was the petting zoo area ... which ironically I don't have any pictures for:)  We were able to pet and feed a lot of different animals.  My kids favorite though was the baby deer.  They would pick grass and let the deer lick it out of their hands.  Mason was the bravest at first, but the other two caught on quick.  We stayed at an older Hotel across from the falls, but despite being old it was really nice and we had the really large pool all to ourselves, which was awesome!!   I had never been to Idaho Falls, but have decided that it would be a place I could live.  I loved it!!

Oh the things kids say ... sigh

  My happy happy child Zach has become very grumpy in his 3rd year of life.  I am just waiting and hoping I will see my happy go lucky child emerge again soon.  Until then ... I will continue to tell him not to tell other kids his age that they are not his friends and that he doesn't like them.  and will continue to tell him not to "hate" everything.  We were at Spencer's sisters house the other day and I could not get Zach to stop telling her that he hated it there.  (If only I had a sock ... I would have shoved it completely in his mouth)  Then at church yesterday he was not happy that his normal teacher was not there and that he had a new teacher.  It took a lot of work for us to get him to sit with his class. We finally told him that he needed to guard the suckers so the other kids wouldn't steal them.  Then when I took him to class he kept insisting that he didn't like his new teacher and so I told him that he was a nice guy just like his other one ... to that he replied "But Mommy, I don't like his voice or his face"  My own face went about 20 shades of red at that point and I just started laughing.  His teacher was very gracious and told me not to worry ... he get's that a lot.  lol!

The Green Bellamy

If you don't have boys than you won't be familiar with the Lego Ninjago series that my boys love so much.  Well, in that series it is rumored that there will be a ninja (the green ninja) that will come to the earth that will be so powerful he will be able to save them from the bad guy.  (can't remember his name right now)
So ... Zach's favorite color has always been green. (Ethan's red and Mason's blue) so he naturally was designated to be the green ninja, while my other boys are the ninja trainers that are meant to train him.  So they have very serious training sessions where they play ninja and train Zach to be the "green Bellamy"  It's all pretty cute until someone gets hurt!!! and someone always gets hurt!!

back to the regular programing and the latest "Deep thoughts by Mason"

So we were driving home this past week and mine and Mason's conversation went something like this:
Mason: "Mommy how big is the earth?"
Me: "Pretty big"  (you know those pat answers you give to your kids when they ask you questions like this)
Mason: "So ... people are to the earth what ants are to our house"
Me: "I would bet that people are a little smaller than ants when compared to the earth"
 -- the conversation pauses as he processes this new information--
Mason: "So people compared to the earth would be more like parasites to our house"
Me:  probably something like that -- (I'm not sure, I can honestly say I've never asked myself this question)  lol!!

and he's 6 .... I'm just wondering what I should study up on for when he turns 7 next year. 

Easter Fun

Next year we won't experiment with "fake" dye-able eggs

Had a blast at the Kaysville easter egg hunt.  Zach was a machine!!

Kids up at 6:30 ready for Easter :) Spencer was not thrilled...

We had a really busy Saturday with 3 hunts and 2 parties, but the kids were able to keep up energy (thanks to sugar) for all of them:)  We first went to the Kaysville hunt.  I was able to help Zach out and I've never had a kid that was so thorough in picking up candy and eggs.  There was a point that I told Zach that maybe we should save the rest of them for the other kids.  After the Kaysville hunt we went to my moms for a delicious bbq and more egg fun.  The kids love going there because they always have those cheap unique toys for them like never pop bubbles or airplanes that launch into the air.  They had a really fun time and were not ready to leave ... but we had to move onto the next party.  Even though they were reluctant to leave my moms they soon forgot and had a blast at the Bellamy's party.  I love the way Pat does the egg hunt.  They find them all and then bring them back in and dump them all into a pile.  It's very fun and fair and when they've divided them all Pat and Bill bring out the Lucky Egg prizes.  This year my kids made off with Lego vehicles.  They were in heaven.  The lucky egg hunt was not so lucky for Spencer and I.  We even discussed strategy before hand about not taking the first egg we found, but unfortunately this year we only found 1 egg and yes ... it was the egg with only 5.00 in it.  You would think we would be better finders, but apparently we are not!! Easter morning was really fun and the kids ran outside with their silly string for a silly fight.  Their lucky egg this year was a blow up pool, but they were way more excited about all the candy.  Fun times!!  They are growing up way too fast!!!

Disneyland ... February 2014

Disneyland was fun, but exhausting.  We were able to go with Spencer's family, which was a nice change from our usual solo trips.  Mason was a little out of sorts the whole trip, but still loved Pirates of the Caribbean as much as he always does. Zach was a good sport not being able to go on most of the rides.  Ethan was able to train to be a Jedi this year, which was really fun.  We'll do this trip differently the next time. (ex. not moving hotels!!) The last day we were there it poured and poured, but that turned out to be my most fun and memorable day.  There were no lines and the rain made it just a little more exciting.  We had to stop at every single town on the way home because our little Mason was miserably constipated.  It made for a very long trip home. Please excuse the lack of pictures ... I only remembered to take my camera the first and last day so all the rest of the pictures are somewhere on Spencer's phone.

After the first day, Ethan informed Mason that we would be going to Disneyland for 3 more days which caused him to burst into tears.  "You'll go and you'll like it .... it's the happiest place on earth!!!"

I've had a couple conversations with Mason that make pause:)  This is how they usually go ...

Mason: If Jesus' father is Heavenly Father than who is Heavenly Father's father?
Me: That's a good question ... We don't really know.

or

Mason: Mommy if it's night time here that means that it is morning in Australia.
Me: Probably.
Mason: and if it is winter here that means its summer in Australia.
Me: I think you're right, we'll have to ask daddy.

or just recently

Me: I love you a whole Galaxy
Mason: Mommy, what is more than a Galaxy
Me: Another Galaxy
Mason: (After a thoughtful look) so if we go through our Galaxy we get to another one and then another one and if we get to the edge of space there is just more space.
Me: Sure :)  I've never thought about it !!  lol!!


I like to call my mom after these conversations to tell her there is another segment of "Deep Thoughts" By Mason Bellamy.
