falling stars

one of the stars just fell off, does that mean I'm now 29?

sweet husbands

I woke up to hearts and stars this morning and chocolate cake:)  What a sweet husband and sweet little boys
(mason told me the chocolate cake was his) :)

stars have pokey's

Mom: "Spencer, do balloons pop when they get really high in the sky or do they eventually come back down?"
Spencer: "They usually pop"
Ethan: "It's because the stars have pokey's on them that pop the balloons"

How many sleeps?

We measured Christmas for Ethan in units of sleep.  So yesterday I told him we were going to have a Painting and Potty training weekend (which I immediately hedged on wondering if I really wanted to paint this weekend) well, so after I said it aloud Ethan asked me how many sleeps it would be until we (yes we) could paint and I told him one.  So this morning he immediately says "YAY!!  we get to paint today" so much for him forgetting about our conversation.

the family calendar

I switched things up this year and did a calendar for my side of the family.  I gave spencer the option to swapp his family pictures in if he wanted to, but he decided not to ...
Just thought I'd showcase the one project a year I actually finish:)

the butterball is on the move

He hasn't quite figured it out, but each day he's getting closer and closer.  Today he got stuck in the crawling position and didn't quite know what to do about it.

my snuggly child

Spencer ended up on the boys floor because Mason was having night terrors and Ethan sensing a snuggle partner promptly joined him :) this is how I found him when I went to wake him up for school.  I guess there wasn't quite enough room for Ethan and Daddy to sleep down there.

December highlights ... warning long post

There could be multiple headings for this photo
"I've been caught"
"What ... toy boats don't float?"
"Just another reason not to leave water in the tub"
(the boys had all of their pirate boats in there ... a total of 4)

Spencer is too nice ... we cooked 4 burgers (one for each of us) but then Mason decided he wanted a double burger, hold the bun.

It was such a perfect night to go and see the lights ... I think it was around 50 degrees.  My kids loved the train ride the most (and have been asking about once a day to go on the train again) but the lights were amazing and then we happened on "kids eat free" wednesday at the JB's when we went to get some hot chocolate.

It's the little things that make me happy  ... like noticing that my boys have been using their nativity as extra's for their pirate adventures. yes, that's the baby Jesus down in the hole.

Ethan has been really into drawing since he started kindergarten. So all month long I've been organizing extra presents that have showed up under the tree (drawings that Ethan had wrapped) and misc. paper ornaments that I would find on the tree (drawn and cut out ornaments) and then one day I was walking past my nativity and noticed an extra shepherd.

What my kids will do to avoid vegetables.

actually they are pretty good when it comes to eating their vegetables, but I thought that it was hilarious at our Thanksgiving dinner that Mason picked out the carrots from the carrot cake.
